With fall on its way at the end of the month, we wanted to get a head start on some prime u-pick apple spots around Vancouver to take advantage of the bounty of the changing seasons. Road trip to Abbotsford or Vernon, or keep things local in the Lower Mainland. Here are 6 amazing apple picking spots near Vancouver to check out this fall.

Taves Family Farm

This family farm is a popular spot for all sorts of u-pick options. And since it’s now officially apple season, it’s time to treat yourself to their tasty selection of apples. Just be sure to check their website for the current availability of apple varieties!

When: Daily 9 am to 5 pm
Where: 333 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford
Cost: $9.50 and up

Davison Orchards

If you’re into u-pick, this place does things a bit differently. In fact, they do orchard tours where you’re then able to pick what you’d like. So if you want to experience a new form of u-pick you might just want to head to Davison Orchards. After all, it doesn’t get much more beautiful than Vernon during autumn. Check out all the produce in-season and head over!

When: Saturday & Sunday, 10 am to 4:30 pm, Wednesday to Friday, 11 am to 4 pm
Where: 3111 Davison Road, Vernon
Cost: Tour is $15 per person

Willow View Farms

This u-pick spot has been kicking for 27 years so, so clearly they’re doing something right! And if you’re looking for a variety of apples, you won’t be disappointed here. All tree fruits are $1.50/lb, and they currently have Gingergold, Gala and Alkmene apples and Asian pears available. Starting September 9th, they’ll have Honeycrisp, McIntosh and Elstar apples – and even more by the end of the month.

When: Monday to Saturday 9 am to 5:30 pm, Sunday 11 am to 5:30 pm
Where: 288 McCallum Road, Abbotsford
Cost: $1.25 lb

Paynter’s Fruit Market

This u-pick spot has you covered on multiple different kinds of produce. So while this list is apple-focused, you can also pick up other goodies like tomatoes, green beans, pears, and squash. But be sure to check their Instagram for the current u-pick availability!

When: Daily 10 am to 6 pm
Where: 3687 Paynter Road, Westbank
Cost: TBA

Southlands Heritage Farm

And while this spot isn’t a u-pick spot it’s certainly a special place in our city. Not to mention at this time you can grab apples and a whole lot more at their farmer’s markets. And if you’d like to visit the farm you can book a tour.

When: Saturdays, 11 am to 3 pm
Where: 6767 Balaclava Street
Cost: Varies

UBC Apple Festival

We’re ending this list with UBC’s Apple Festival, which is a bit more of a wait – and not technically u-pick – but totally worth it. The two-day festival features a food fair, live entertainment on the Great Lawn, and over 40 varieties of new & heritage BC apples available for tasting.

When: October 15th and 16th
Where: UBC Botanical Garden
Cost: $7 early bird pricing
