Harry Potter fans? This one is for you- you can now immerse yourself in the Wizarding World with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, now playing at the CAA Ed Mirvish Threatre!

ICYMI, the legendary theatre with a 102-year-old history of showcasing exceptional performance arts, reopened last May. And for their opening act, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has taken over with an immersive theatrical presentation – making TO the only Canadian city to host the experience.

Thrilling and exciting for all ages 8 and up this one-of-a-kind show includes impressive stage theatrics in a first-class theatre experience. And here’s what makes it so damn incredible—

The Show & Cast

Harry Potter’s son, Albus Severus Potter, befriends the son of his father’s fiercest of enemies, Draco Malfoy! Now, that’s a winning story right there. But what makes the show even better is the stellar all-Canadian cast.

The show promises a mind-blowing race through time, spectacular spells and an epic battle, all brought to life with the most astonishing theatrical magic ever seen on stage.

The Transformation

The theatre has been transformed (inside and out) into a Harry Potter fantasyland. From tiny details like dragon sconces(light fixtures) to bigger ones like the drastic auditorium makeover, the whole place is pure magic.

You’ll witness a repainted auditorium that now wears a darker shade that is aptly named, Witchcraft. Then there are walls and false opera boxes added to give the place a narrower depth of perception. This was required to bring the many spectacular illusions in the show to life.

It’s not just the auditorium, the outside too is donning Harry Potter elements. The 244 Victoria Street entrance is embellished with Hogwarts house icons. And the 263 Yonge Street side has a giant marquee.

The Bonus

In addition to the show and the transformation, there’s a lot more that will make this the most epic experience of your life.

There is a massive augmented reality experience, the Patronus Wall, that greets you in the main lobby. There is a confectionary stand offering Butterbeer, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, cupcakes, candies all in Hogwarts colours and themes, chocolate wands and more. There is also a “selfie alley” with various installations to get unreal clicks. And of course, the merch kiosks where you can snag some cool souvenirs.

Honestly, Harry Potter fan or not, this is the kind of theatrical experience NO ONE should miss. The fact that it makes for one heck of a date night or simply a fun night out with friends is just a delightful perk.
