Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, doesn’t matter- a sandwich is something you can eat any time you want. Trying to find the best sandwiches in Calgary takes a lot of time, effort, and appetite, but we were happy to do it. That being said, we’re certain that we haven’t tried enough and there are some hidden gems waiting for us out there. Regardless, we’ve put together our list of the 14 best sandwiches in Calgary!
Spolumbo’s – Cutlet Parmigiana
You can’t have a list of best sandwiches in Calgary without including something from Spolumbo’s. This institution of deliciousness serves up this fan favourite on weekdays only, so make sure you plan accordingly.

Euphoria Cafe – Angus Beef Panini
Not only is this an absolutely top-notch coffee shop, but Euphoria is also responsible for one of the best sandwiches in Calgary. Find yourself a seat and get comfortable because the Angus Beef Panini will make you weak in the knees.

Peppino – Joe’s Special
Handmade sandwiches that make you feel right at home. That’s what you’ll get at both of the Peppino locations. Oh, and Joe’s Special has three Italian types of meat laid beautifully and simply inside a sandwich along with cheese, lettuce, and house dressing. That’s Mortadella, Capicollo, and Calabrese Salami, people. Bring your appetite.

Earl’s – Chicken, Brie & Fig Sandwich
Earl’s might not be an obvious choice when you’re thinking traditional sandwiches, but man, oh man is this thing good! Bite into this sammie filled with sweet fig, roasted apples, spinach, garlic aioli, all on a rustic ciabatta bun. Excuse us while we wipe the drool from our mouth.

Grumans Deli – Grumans Reuben or All Day Breakfast Burger
Classic Jewish fare gets absolutely perfected each day at Grumans. Anything on the menu with the Montreal Smoked Meat is worth trying, but the Reuben might just be the best one in Calgary.

Kim Anh – BBQ Pork Sub
Everything on the menu at Kim Anh is top-notch, but our favourite sandwich is the BBQ Pork Sub. Choose your own toppings for a new taste adventure every time you swing by.

CHARCUT: Prime Rib Sandwich
The saying “too many cooks in the kitchen” can be translated directly to sandwiches. We’re not sure if “too many things in that sandwich” is something that will stick, but we’re gonna give it a shot. All this classic Calgary sandwich has in it is shaved Alberta prime rib, house-made mustard, and white cheddar. It’s so simple but so, so damn tasty.

Keith’s Deli: Anything, but our personal fave is the Turkey with Cranberry Sauce
This place has been a Calgary sandwich staple for 45 years. If that doesn’t instill some confidence in you, then we don’t know what will. Oh, every sandwich is also less than $8! Talk about bang for your buck.

Thi-Thi Vietnamese Sub – Beef or Chicken Sate
It’s a toss-up between this and Kim Anh for our favourite Vietnamese Sub in the city, but plenty of people will claim this one tops them all. Actually, plenty of people claim this is the best Banh Mi spot in Canada, so it’s definitely worth checking out.

Myhre’s Deli – Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich
This classic deli has been serving Montreal Smoked meat in the heart of Calgary since 2002. The decor pays homage to Calgary’s history and this sandwich pays homage to ridiculously delicious food. Pretty good combo.

Zilford’s – Fried Chicken Sammie (mix the Honey Butter with Comin’ In Hot sauce)
Food truck alert! Zilford’s has been slinging hot Nashville chicken out of it’s traveling truck for a couple of years now and it keeps getting better. Our lil’ trick is to mix the Honey Butter with the Comin’ In Hot Sauce for a major taste explosion.

Sidewalk Citizen – Roast Beef & Cheddar Melt
Located in one of the coolest buildings in town, Sidewalk Citizen delivers some seriously tasty dishes. It might be a bit pricey (considering there is no side dish included), but trust us when we say this is a serious contender for the best sandwich in Calgary.

Holy Grill: New Californian
This downtown Calgary lunch hot spot (both locations are equally as good) has a full array of tasty sandwiches, but the New Californian is definitely our favourite. Filled with cream cheese, provolone, banana peppers, red onion, pickled eggplant & red cabbage grilled zucchini & yam, artichoke hearts + tomato, this is a fully-loaded taste explosion.
