Calgary has some incredible views and lookouts from just about every angle. Whether you use lookout points for photography, in-the-moment viewing pleasure, or… other things… we say go for it, Calgary. There’s nothing better than taking in this beautiful city than by enjoying it in beautiful places. We’ve gathered some prettiest spots to perch and admire YYC, for you, so sit back and enjoy.
Here are 10 of the best views and viewpoints in Calgary!
Tom Campbell Hill
This picturesque spot is near the Calgary Zoo. Take Deerfoot Trail South then Memorial Drive East onto St George’s Drive to get here!
Bellevue Ave SE
Find this small green space on the edge of Ramsay, and walk up the hillside for a clear view of the city. Small warning: it’s kinda hard to get to if you have bad knees. Maybe bring a trusty walking stick?
Rotary Park
This is a popular spot for some views of downtown Calgary from the north, so don’t show up unless you’re prepared to share the view with a couple other view-hungry people.
33 Ave SW
This is a perfect spot for both sunrise and sunset, since light will make the city skyline glow! Just try not to bother the nice people living here too much, since it’s located on the shelf above Mission Road where lots of folks live.
Rundle Ruins
So this isn’t technically a lookout, but it is a heck of a view. Head to 12 Ave SE near the Saddledome to admire a few different sandstone formations, and peep the Calgary Tower in the background.
Range Road 14 just south of Spruce Meadows
This kinda-outside-the-city spot is prime for photography, but it also gets a lot of attention from couples. You’ve been warned! Now let the country roads take you home. Is it a viewpoint of Calgary? Maybe not, but it’s still a gorgeous spot to admire. Technicalities, psshhh.
McHugh Bluff Park
Climbing a set of huge stairs may sound terrible, but the view is more than worth it. Look, we’re not hikers. But we do know what pretty views of Calgary look like.
Tyndale Park
Come here to scope the Calgary Tower between skyscrapers, or to enjoy the Stampede fireworks!
Calgary Stampede Wooden Platform View Point
This spot is off of 6th St SE, near where Ramsay St connects. Head to the large wooden platform on the lip of a cliff to set up your tripod! Or, hop the fence and lay out a blanket with your honey. Be careful, obviously. We wouldn’t want you two lovebirds falling.
Shaganappi Golf Course
Whether you’re a golfer or not, you have to admit that Shag has a really nice view of the city. Buy a round of golf and then snuggle up on the grass to watch the sun go down.
That’s it that’s all Calgary! Enjoy the views, and make sure to tag us in all your snaps from these gorgeous spots!
