You know what’s better than a concrete box with people inside of it? A cool looking building! Thank you, architects of Toronto, for giving us so many beautiful buildings to admire. The city’s got some stunning structures, so here are 8 of the most beautiful buildings in Toronto. Get that photo op in, or just stop by to look!
Here are 8 of the most beautiful buildings in Toronto!
SCARBOROUGH CIVIC CENTRE LIBRARY
If our library looked this good, we’d actually read! This building borrows some West Coast influence with towering wood beams and glass aplenty. Thanks for going so hard for us, Scarbs.
Where: 150 Borough Dr, Scarborough
CASA LOMA
Fun fact: Casa Loma is the only legitimate castle in Canada! This Gothic Revival style castle stuns with five acres of gardens and plenty of interior rooms and halls to explore. It’s also a perfect dinner date spot 😉
Where: 1 Austin Terrace
THE GOODERHAM BUILDING
Also known as the Flatiron Building, this slender dude is a gorgeous rich red and green. It’s also known for the mural on the back wall. Double whammy in one skinny package!
Where: 49 Wellington St E
ART GALLERY OF ONTARIO
The AGO has become a favourite for Instagram photoshoots, and for good reason! The renovation designed by Frank Gehry added some gorgeous elements. One of our favourite is the curving wood and glass of the Galleria Italia, pictured above.
Where: 317 Dundas St W
ST. JAMES CATHEDRAL
This cathedral makes us want to go to church. Almost. The stunning St. James Anglican Cathedral Church could probably fool your non-Torontonian friends into thinking you went to Paris if you play it right.
Where: 106 King St E
ROY THOMPSON HALL
Shape? Weird. Scales? Shiny. We love this dome-y dude. On a partly cloudy day, it’s perfect to watch the reflection of the sky and completely ignore any other responsibilities you have.
Where: 60 Simcoe St
ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM
Designed by Daniel Libeskind, this Toronto classic combines old and new. An aluminum and glass “crystal” juts out from the historic facade in a cool mix of styles. Kinda reminds us of this Pokemon, but we love it. Also, it just got a brand-new outdoor performance space and plaza!
Where: 100 Queens Park
AND OBVIOUSLY, THE CN TOWER
Did you think we’d leave this classic out? The icon of Toronto towers above the city and dominates pretty much every skyline shot you’ll ever see. The beauty is in how dang tall it is (553.3m), which we wish we could say about ourselves. Curses, short parents.
Where: 290 Bremner Blvd
There you have it, 8 of the most beautiful buildings in Toronto. Way better than our 1980s apartment building that looks like a concrete slab with small windows cut into it. Emphasis on “small.” Think we can live inside the AGO?
