Well, folks, NHL games are officially returning, which means that it’s time to check out the best sports bars around Vancouver to watch it all go down. Now, this year is going to be unlike any other (surprise), so a couple of notes. No matter how intense the games get, staying health-conscious should be priority number 1. Don’t forget about social distancing while you’re out and about.
And without further ado, here are some great sports bars for watching NHL games in Vancouver.
Bells and Whistles
This spot has become one of the best bars in Vancouver, and especially for sports. It’s like the perfect modern neighbourhood bar- good beer, good food, and good company. Add an NHL playoff game into that mix and you might find yourself living here for a bit.
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 12PM-10PM, Friday/Saturday, 12PM-11PM, and Sunday, 10AM-10PM
Where: 3296 Fraser Street
Yagger’s
View this post on Instagram
This is the classic neighbourhood sports bar experience. Good wings, cheap beer, and a community atmosphere make this our top pick for watching the game. They’ve got two locations around the city to boot, but we prefer the one in Kits.
Hours: Vary per location
Where: Kitsilano and Downtown locations
12 Kings Pub
Pretty much the same neighbourhood haunt vibe as Yagger’s, but this time out in East Van. Seriously, we can’t recommend supporting spots like 12 Kings enough. As much as we love new and shiny, we always circle back to the neighbourhood joints for a guaranteed good time.
Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 12PM-1AM and Friday/Saturday, 12PM-2AM
Where: 395 Kingsway

BREWHALL
We’re recommending this one mostly because the space is huge. No seriously- even with social distancing in place we think this might be the best pick for groups looking for a safe watching experience while still being able to hoot and holler. It’s like if you had a buddy who hosted watch parties in a renovated barn, and it’s amazing.
Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 11AM-12AM and Friday/Saturday, 11AM-1AM
Where: 97 E 2nd Avenue
Shark Club
On the other hand, Shark Club knows that one of the main draws of being a sports bar is actually having better TVs and sound than at home. Plus, these guys have great daily specials and happy hour, so they’re perfect for a few cheap beers and eats during the game.
When: Monday, 11:30AM-12AM, Tuesday to Thursday, 11:30AM-1AM, Friday/Saturday, 11:30AM-2AM and Sunday, 10AM-12AM
Where: 180 W Georgia Street
Colony
Colony has a few locations around Vancouver, and honestly, we can’t pick our favourite of them. Which also makes it a great choice for catching an NHL game with your pals. Trekking 30 mins to watch a game? No thank you. A nice 10-minute walk to your local bar? Yes, please.
Hours: Vary per location
Where: Locations in Kitsilano, Mt. Pleasant, North Vancouver and Downtown
The Pint
Like Shark Club, The Pint knows how to make sure that everyone who comes to watch the game gets a great view of it. And since they’re using a reservation system for the games, you won’t have to worry (too much) about things getting too rowdy while you’re there. Honestly, we couldn’t have made that promise last year.
Hours: Wednesday/Thursday, 4PM-12AM, Friday/Saturday, 4PM-2AM, Sunday, 2PM-10PM
Where: 455 Abbott Street
Your House
Yup, we’re going with the cliched final pick, because it’s probably the one we’re going to take the most over the next few weeks. With so much hockey in store, we’re realizing that it would also be super easy to order pickup or delivery from any of these spots. That way we can still support local business without getting too rowdy. At least in public.
When: Whenever
Where: From any of the spots mentioned above!
And that’s our guide! With games starting up, it’s important to have a solid guide of the best sports bars in Vancouver in your back pocket. Hopefully, we just covered that for you.
Have a great day, folks!
