Guide: 7 socially-distant activities that will get you into a holiday state of mind

We’re constantly on the hunt to partake in some holiday cheer, maybe even some extra cheer this year. Whether you’re looking for something to do while staying tucked away inside or itching to find an activity that’ll get you out of the house, there are options to fit every mood. Even better? You can enjoy a beer (or two) from Partake Brewing no matter what you choose because these craft beers are non-alcoholic and the perfect addition to any leisurely activity!

CALGARY CHRISTMAS FARMERS’ MARKET

For everything on the table and under the tree, the Calgary Christmas Market is on now at the Calgary Farmers’ Market! Support local vendors and get your holiday shopping done all in one place. They’ve got you fully covered with curbside pick-up and have curated 7 different Christmas gift bags, so you know you’re getting the best of the best.

AIRDRIE’S FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

This 25-year tradition is thriving, even throughout COVID. The lights are glowing brighter than ever at our neighbours to the north. Make sure your phone is charged up because you’ll be snapping pics all night long capturing your favourite displays.

When: Until Thursday, December 31st
Where: Nose Creek Regional Park, Airdrie, AB
Time: 6 pm – 9 pm
Cost: Free

HOST A VIRTUAL GAME NIGHT

We can’t host traditional game nights but we CAN host a virtual one. Check out sites like Lets Roam and challenge your friends across the globe! This sounds like a great way to connect and have some fun with family and friends that you haven’t seen in forever, how cool!

GO FOR A SKATE IN THE MOUNTAINS

So, we’re pretty lucky to live so close to one of the prettiest places in the world and Abraham Lake just might be the star of the show. This iconic lake freezes over in the most unique way featuring its beautiful bubbles and it’s a must-see. If you haven’t already checked it out, it’s time to lace up your skates and start the car!

MAKE A GINGERBREAD HOUSE

This is a tradition you cannot pass up. Pick-up a gingerbread house kit from your favourite local shop or grocery store and get to work! We think this is a great way to spend an evening even if you don’t have kids. You can even turn this into this fun activity into a friendly competition!

GO SNOWSHOEING

Our friends over at Kananaskis Outfitters have some amazing tours that they’re offering right now, including a night tour for amazing stargazing. How cool is that? We all know how pretty our Canadian skies can get at night and now you can stargaze while you snowshoe the Kananaskis trails.

MOUNTAIN TOP CHRISTMAS

The Banff Gondola is hosting an elevated Christmas event this year. Come check out all the activities going on like cookie decorating, Christmas films, craft stations and more. Christmas just feels so much merrier in the mountains!

When: Saturday, December 19th – December 30th
Where: 100 Mountain Ave, Banff, AB
Time: 11 am – 8 pm
Cost: $42+

So whether you’re staying in this Winter or getting out for some fresh air, make sure you have a Partake brew in hand. They are in many local stores or you can get them online, so either way, you won’t have to venture far to pick them up. Cheers to the holidays!
