Now that the weather sucks less, we’re looking for any and all excuses to get outside and breathe in some fresh air. Unfortunately, patios are still closed and it’s a bit too nippy to take a drive with the windows down. Tonight, how about grabbing a picnic blanket, curling up on a park bench with some cocoa and taking in a sunset? We don’t do that enough, and it’s a damn good excuse to be outside! Here are 5 breathtaking spots to catch a sunset in Calgary.

SCOTSMAN HILL

This spot doubles as both a dynamite sunset watching spot and a Stampede fireworks viewpoint. From this hill, you can see the entire city skyline and the Saddledome. Take it in while you can, folks! In a few year’s time when they take down the iconic building, this view just won’t be the same.

Where: Scotsman’s Hill, Salisbury St. S.E., Ramsay

TOM CAMPBELLS HILL

Tom Campbells Hill overlooks the Bow River. The view is gorgeous at any time of the day, but it’s something else to watch the sunset from here. Also, there are cute little benches facing the skyline, which is nice. If you’re lucky you might even catch some wildlife up there!

Where: 25 St. George’s Dr. NE, Calgary

EAST VILLAGE RIVERWALK

This spot is extraordinarily photogenic. Just call it the Bella Hadid of Calgary sunset viewpoints. Grab a camera and cozy up with you S/O or best pal while you watch the sun disappear behind the riverbank at the top of the hill. This spot will honestly change the way you see Calgary- for the better, of course.

Where:  6th Street and 6th Avenue SE, Calgary

There’s a perfect sunset view from almost anywhere in Edworthy. Follow the Douglas Fir Trail for Terabithia-like views, or check out the Lawrey Gardens and let the pooch run free around their 150 off-leash areas while you watch the sky go from blue to black over downtown.

Where: 5050 Spruce Dr. SW, Calgary

NORTH GLENMORE PARK

North Glenmore is a bit of an escape from busy city hustle and bustle. From here, you can catch the sunset over the Rocky Mountains and the Elbow River Valley. We like to go here when we want to forget other humans exist with us, and it works! Ahh, ignorance is bliss.

Where: 7305 Crowchild Tr. SW, Calgary

There you have it, Calgary! Where else in the universe do you get a view like we do without the threat of extreme heat, suffocation or alien warfare? Man, we’ve got it good.
