The concert has ended, most of the party cabbed home, but you and a friend are feeling a little peckish and want some late night food in Calgary. Well, fear not hungry night-owls, because this is the de facto guide to late night dining in this fine town. We’re not playing around either, we only picked spots that are open until at least 1AM on weekends.

Here are the 12 best spots to grab some late night food in Calgary, chosen by yours truly with a little help from our pals at Foodora.

Every Calgarian knows of this spot for a late night bite to eat, and they also know that it’s the place the true party animals hit. Whether you’re there to dance on tables and make some new, drunken friends, or just to grab an order of some unreal dumplings and ginger beef, this spot has definitely made a name for itself. And it’s more than for just their Chinese food…

Big Cheese Poutine

There’s nothing like a hefty box of poutine when you’re having a late night craving. This one is another awesome spot to stop by when strolling down 17th Avenue hungry, and alone. (We’re just kidding, well sorta. Sometimes you’re flying solo and you still need to eat, right?)

Thai Tai

Oh Thai Tai, our one true love. It’s a little embarrassing how well known some of us have become with the staff there, but we’re also not even sorry. Our classic go-to is a satay chicken Vietnamese sub and a taro bubble tea. In the summer, switch it up for a watermelon bubble tea– but always stay true to the Vietnamese sub.

Where: 615 17 Ave S.W.

Shawarma Knight

Subway

There is no disguising the fact that when you’re looking for a meal past midnight, you probably aren’t too worried about your health. However, this Subway is open 24 hours, and such a classic, safe (somewhat nutritious) bet. There is absolutely no going wrong with an ooey-gooey cheesy twelve foot pizza sub and good ol’ bag of Doritos though.

Shawarma King

This shawarma spot is a Kensington staple. Open until 4:00am every night, it’s a classic late-night indulgence. Whether your preference is chicken or beef– they’re both so good it’s almost impossible to choose– the portions are hefty, the sauces are to die for, and to food is oh-so-satisfying.

Whether you choose to feast there or take it home, well that’s up to you folks.

CPU – Canadian Pizza Unlimited

One of our personal favourite spots to head over to is CPU. Whether you’ve been jamming out to an extremely overcrowded show at Broken City, danced your night away at Commonwealth, or just had a few too many throughout the night at National, CPU is always there for you. Load a giant pizza slice up with ranch and hot sauce and you’re good to go.

And there we go. That’s all the late night food spots in Calgary us and Foodora think you should start with. Now you can easily rebuff your drunk friends’ suggestions to just go to McDonald’s. Come on pal, you can do better.
