A new mountain coaster in Metro Vancouver will take riders through lush forest

Attention, mountain coaster lovers! You no longer have to venture far from the city to enjoy an exhilarating ride through the mountains and scenery. North Vancouver’s own Grouse Mountain is getting a new mountain coaster and mountain bike park, so get ready for even more adventures to come!

The new outdoor attractions come on the heels of the mountain resort’s new state-of-the-art gondola, which will open in 2024/2025 winter season.

The mountain coaster and the only chairlift-operated mountain bike park on the North Shore will officially open to the public in spring 2025.

The alpine coaster will take passengers on an exciting ride through a series of old-growth trees before being met with breathtaking, iconic views of Vancouver.

“Located to the skiers’ left of The Cut, the design of the Coaster has allowed us to maintain the integrity of the Mountain by incorporating the old-growth trees along the journey of the track,” says Michael Cameron, President of Grouse Mountain Resort.

According to Grouse, guests will enjoy speeds of up to 45 kilometres an hour on the track, as well as a vertical descent of 919 metres, a 91-metre vertical drop, and an ascent of 515 metres returning them to the mountaintop at the end of the ride.

For those who prefer two wheels, the new Mountain Bike Park will utilize the ‘Screaming Eagle’ chairlift to drop guests into a series of trails, including beginner-friendly, intermediate, and advanced trails.

All trails will lead back to the chairlift to return bikers to the mountaintop.

So there you have it, Vancouver! Stay tuned for more info as it comes, including an official opening date.
