Groundhog Day is here and Phil has spoken his spring predictions

February 2nd is a day to look forward to because it happens again and again and again… No, we’re just kidding, none of us will be getting stuck in the 1993 world of Groundhog Day. But Punxsutawney Phil has spoken about his predictions for spring this year.

So what’s the deal is it going to stay cold? Is spring just around the corner? This year, Phil saw his shadow and that means another 6 weeks of winter. And if you’re wondering it’s the 136th time that the groundhogs have been in charge of predicting what’s to come.

But don’t get too bummed because while the groundhog’s handlers may insist that they’re right 100% of the time, the data says otherwise. Phil is actually only right about 40% of the time, and not only that but Washington is known to have some pretty unpredictable spring weather. So we’ll stay cautiously optimistic.

Regardless it’s great to see that this strange and fuzzy American tradition is still going strong. It’s also a great opportunity to watch the movie of the same name because hey, February 2nd only happens once a year. Have a great week, folks!
