This coastal town in Ontario has boardwalks & a staircase to the beach

It’s not too late to explore the outdoors, and we’ve got just the spot in mind for you to visit this fall. Goderich was once called the “prettiest town in Canada” by Queen Elizabeth II and we totally agree.

With clear blue skies, stunning landscapes and multiple beaches, there’s no surprise here that this town has left many, especially royalty, in awe.

Goderich, Ontario is a small coastal town situated on bluffs with a gorgeous view of Lake Huron.

It’s just under a three-hour drive from Toronto and it’s a perfect day trip or weekend opportunity if you’re looking for some fun in the sun.

The town is known for its almost turquoise-blue beaches (three in fact) and a very charming historic downtown.

One of the town’s main attractions is the scenic boardwalk trail overlooking the beaches.

The boardwalk trail extends 1.5 kilometres along the waterfront, with an ice cream pit stop at the end of it.

The pathway is over 10 feet wide and offers front-row views of the beautiful “must-see” beaches along Lake Huron.

Goderich’s three beaches are Main Beach, St. Christopher’s Beach, and Rotary Cove Beach.

At St. Christopher’s Beach, you’ll also find a wooden staircase that leads you up to the stunning Goderich Lighthouse perched on the edge of a bluff.

You can also enjoy the iconic sunsets from all the beaches or any of the 13 viewpoint parks atop the bluffs.

If you’re more of a city dweller, there are over 140 businesses and services to check out in town, plus free and accessible parking.

So, there you have it, friends – the sign you’ve been waiting for to do some local exploring.

Enjoy your trip to Goderich!
