The Vancouver Fringe Festival is back and here’s what to expect if you get tickets

Vancouverites will know Granville Island as an epicentre for artisan crafts, creative souls, and a parking situation that would make Stephen King shudder. So maybe take transit because you really won’t want to miss the return of the eclectic and dazzling Vancouver Fringe Festival

Whether this event is a recurring staple in your fall itinerary or this is the first time you’re hearing about it, prepare yourself for a wild event of theatrics, hijinks, and hilarity unlike any other.

Fringe is a performing arts festival that refuses to define itself. Experience acts from emerging talent and established trailblazers from across the globe. Fringe will bring over 85 new acts this year, from theatre, comedy, dance, drag, spoken word, music, opera, and more. There will be shows to enjoy for nearly all ages. So, whether you want to pack up the family or round up your friends, there’s something for everyone to marvel at.

Fringe is unique in that it strives to provide equal opportunities to all types of artists. Those wishing to participate must apply for one act per festival year. The participants are then selected using a lottery system, which allows Vancouverites to discover new talent and enjoy a truly diverse and exciting show.

The Vancouver Fringe Festival prides itself on its uniquely quizzical blend of performance, living art, and digital reality. There will be drama that tests your mettle. Laughter that splits your belly until you cry. Dance moves that defy gravity and dare you to look away- but you won’t want to miss a second.

Take a trip to a wonderland that will make Alice jealous, and experience it all for around $15 a ticket.

VANCOUVER FRINGE FESTIVAL

When: Thursday, September 7th to Sunday, September 17th
Where: Granville Island
Cost: From $15 per ticket
