What’s a more Seattle way to welcome summer than the Solstice Parade? The 2024 Fremont celebration is back this year and just as creative as years past. Of course, the parade wouldn’t be complete without the colorful solstice naked bike ride, and here’s when the riders are hitting the streets.

While naked, the Solstice Cyclists are actually most notably known for their creative body paint. From simple single colors to intricate designs, costumes, and more, these riders usually go all out.

This year, the Fremont Solstice Parade takes place on Saturday June 22, 2024, at 1 PM.

“Experience the awe-inspiring sight of community-based, people-powered ensembles parading through the vibrant streets of Fremont, showcasing giant puppets, stilt walkers, floats, dancers, cyclists, and musicians in a kaleidoscope of joyous human expression,” states the Solstice Parade’s website.

This year, the parade will start at the intersection of Leary Ave N and N. 39th St, along N. 36th St, leading to the iconic Lenin statue at Evanston Ave N. and N. 36th St. The parade then turns onto Evanston Ave N. and concludes at the intersection of the Fremont Rocket, located at Evanston Ave N. and N. 35th St.

For cyclists, on the Saturday morning, the schedule includes painting up, then riding to Gas Works Park. Form there at 12:45pm, before heading to the parade route.

“The Painted Cyclists have long been a fixture of the Fremont Solstice Parade experience,” the Cyclists’ page reads. “The parade is produced by the Fremont Arts Council; it’s a fantastic and whimsical celebration of the return of the sun, complete with larger than life puppets, floats, and street performers.”

They add that Painted Cyclists “engage and entertain the crowd with our boldness, bareness and enthusiasm.”

According to organizers, this is a people powered event, so motorized vehicles are allowed, except electric wheelchairs.

We’re excited for summer solstice & longer/warmer days, and all the parades that come with it, that’s for sure!
