The Frye Art Museum is located on First Hill and is home to an impressive permanent collection as well as several curated shows each year. It’s one of Seattle’s best places to see both older and contemporary art and it’s always free!

When you think of gold you likely think of California and Alaska as well as the Yukon in Canada. What you may not know is that the Gold Rush was actually of huge economic benefit to our city. In fact, there’s a whole museum dedicated to it and it’s totally free.

The Olympic Sculpture Park is where art meets getting outdoors. Its location along Elliott Bay makes it a great place to walk with friends while seeing art by both local and international artists.

Hours: Opens daily 30 minutes prior to sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset
The Duwamish Longhouse is all about the “social, cultural, and economic survival of Seattle Washington’s aboriginal Duwamish Tribe.” It’s a great place to learn and brush up on your local indigenous knowledge.

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10 AM-5 PM
Seattle is surrounded by water making it a prime city for a boat-centric museum. The Center for Wooden Boats describes itself as a “living museum.” It’s all about giving the public access to northwest maritime heritage through “education, interpretation, and hands-on experience.”
