Summer is officially winding down, and fall is just around the corner. And maybe you spent an extra dollar or two over the past month, thanks to all the summer events and patios. Good thing there are plenty that you can check out for free or under $25 this upcoming month. Not sure what’s happening? EAT AND DRINK AT THIS WEEKEND FESTIVAL

Check out the Cocktails and Jerk Festival the first weekend of September! Cocktails and Jerk is a “Caribbean-themed food event, showcasing popular street foods and tropical cocktail beverages.” So, expect a variety of vendors, representing the best cuisine in the city, to be offering some delicious Caribbean dishes, from jerk chicken to fried plantains and more.

ART GALLERY OF ALBERTA

The AGA has got a serious amount of stuff to check out this summer. If you’re curious, there will be as many as 10 temporary exhibitions and installations on view! General admission ain’t so bad, but head down on the final Thursday of every month for admission by donation night.

GET LOST AND FOUND IN A CORN MAZE

That’s right, the Edmonton Corn Maze is back for the season as well! Head down and quite literally lose yourself in acres upon acres of corn. Sounds like a Stephen King novel, but we assure you, it’s much more fun than that.

WATCH FAMILY MOVIES AT THE THEATRE FOR $2.99

Looking for a fun Saturday morning activity this month? Cineplex Canada has brought back its Family Favourites deal for September, offering just $2.99 movie tickets deal. Movies this month include The Adventures Of Tintin and Sonic The Hedgehog 2.

HIT UP THE FARMERS’ MARKETS

We will literally never tire of a weekly or monthly trip to one of Edmonton’s farmers’ markets. Get some great groceries, maybe treat yourself to a snack… it’s a couple of hours well spent.

MURAL MASSIVE 2022

Are you ready Edmonton? Grindstone’s Mural Massive is back for its third year! Watch new large-scale murals get painted in Old Strathcona as part of this indoor/outdoor art event. The festival runs from September 3rd to the 10th at various Old Strathcona and Downtown neighbourhoods, and don’t forget the late-night party happening at The Grindstone Theatre on Friday, September 9. Parts of this event are free, and others are $12+.

SAVOUR STRATHCONA

The annual celebration of local food and art returns on September 11.  Check out independent restaurants, local food trucks, and new this year, you can also check out local liquor manufacturers! There will be artists and live entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening.

THE STRATHEARN ART WALK

Get your art on, Edmonton! The Strathearn Art Walk is a free, family-friendly event that celebrates art in our community. Enjoy the work of emerging and professional artists, all with the scenic backdrop of our beautiful river valley and city skyline!

KALEIDO FAMILY ARTS FESTIVAL

From September 16 to 18, Arts on the Ave and Kaleido are presenting Kaleido Family Arts Festival 2022: Heart in Living Colour! Kaleido is coming back to the Ave, “bringing light and joy and filling hearts with music, art, and acts that are a wonder to behold, and (as always) free to the community!”
