There have been rumours of a haunting in Marda Loop’s cSPACE for many years.

Today, cSPACE Marda Loop is an innovative creative hub, coworking and event venue; but its origins as King Edward School, opened Nov. 1, 1913, place it as one of Calgary’s oldest historic buildings.

A free Halloween event put on by cSPACE will pay homage to its literal old-school roots, with all four floors decked out in themes related to the building as a historic hub for creativity, collaboration, change, and community.

You can expect creatures in costume to roam the halls of this heritage building, with free Halloween activities available on each floor.

It’ll be some good-old-fashioned, family-friendly Halloween fun in Calgary on Oct. 30!

Plus, you can even celebrate the anniversary of this important building, which opened around this time some 112 years ago.

What to expect

Walk-ups are welcome at this free Halloween-themed community event, which will take place on Oct. 30 this year at cSPACE.

The halls of the heritage building will come alive, with each of the four floors serving as the home base of a mysterious “creature” born from the spirit of the building.

It’ll be a night where art, imagination, and mischief mingle. You can take part in hands-on arts activities, dance classes geared towards all experience levels, and a ghost tour of the heritage school.

Don’t worry — there will also be trick-or-treating, and fistfuls of candy to enjoy for attendees young and old.

You’re encouraged to come in costume and with some lively Halloween spirit for this evening celebrating the creative creatures that bring cSPACE to life.

Admission to the event is free for everyone, but you’re encouraged to RSVP ahead of time.

You might even experience an encounter with the paranormal. After all, for over a centennial spirits have wandered these hallowed halls.
