If you want to take the most magical day trip to the ultimate Christmas destination, keep listening. Frankenmuth, Michigan is just across the Windsor, Ontario – Detroit border and within the Bavarian-themed town is the world’s largest Christmas store, Bronner’s. Yep, this wonderland of Christmas decor, costumes, treats and more is a must-visit if you’re a lover of the holiday season.
You’ll need a car and your passport.
Frankenmuth, Michigan is about around four and a half hours from Toronto across the Ontario border.
While Bronner’s is obviously on the itinerary, there are a handful of other places you need to check out while visiting the area so gear up for a full-day visit.
First stop, Bronner’s! This massive Christmas store draws people in from near and far not just during the holidays, but year-round.
As the world’s largest Christmas store, it’s no surprise that you can shop a selection of more than 6,000 styles of ornaments among the thousands of other Christmas offerings.
If you’re heading to Bronner’s around Christmas, you’ll be treated to visits from Santa Claus himself.
The Frankenmuth Social District is up next. This district is “a permitted area in which alcoholic beverages may be purchased on-site at qualifying bars and restaurants and consumed off-site in the designated commons areas.”
This means you can walk, shop, and explore with a cup in your hand!
Frankenmuth is also famous for something quite unique, its chicken dinners. Yes, this city serves up some of the best chicken dinners around with Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth and Bavarian Inn Restaurant as two of the most beloved restaurants.
The area’s tourism website says it best, “1-800-FUN-TOWN just called asking for you…it’s time to catch up.” A trip to Frankenmuth needs to be in your near future, sorry, I don’t make the rules.
