Looking for your next shot of adrenaline? High in the Alberta Rockies, those in need of a rush can enjoy an activity that will have their palms sweaty and hearts racing.
Described as ‘the stuff of legends,’ KPOW Skiing at the Fortress Mountain Resort is even more exciting than your run-of-the-mill sport.

Hit the slopes! These Alberta ski resorts are now open for the season
Led by a trusty guide, this wild excursion will begin in a snowcat, proceed to the backcountry and see that you and your fellow group members experience untouched snow and wind-protected slopes.
With 750cm (300 inches) of average annual snowfall and over 2,000 acres of stunning, skiable terrain, adventurers are in for the ride of their life and a mind full of memories.
Of course, if this isn’t cool enough, it’s worth noting that this particular area is also famous – seen and admired in movies such as The Revenant, Cold Pursuit, Bourne Legacy, Planet of the Apes, Jumanji and Inception.
The only downside? It’ll cost you!
Prices range from $510 in the low season (December 7th, to January 27, 2024) to $595 per person in the high season (January 28th, 2024 to the end of the season) – plus they ask that those who book be strong intermediate to advanced skiers or snowboarders.
Not sure you’re cut out for something so raw? Though you can also snowshoe, hike and fish in the area, it won’t be long until the resort itself reopens after an extreme renovation.
“Currently closed for lift-accessed services, Fortress Mountain is undergoing the single largest redevelopment and revision program in its legendary 55-year history,” they explain.
“Phase 1 plans will furnish new lifts, a new lodge, and much more. Fortress will soon again offer multiple generations of skiers and riders terrain and amenities to create that perfect ski day. Along with the excitement of a new winter resort, Fortress is also developing summer programs, making Fortress a year-round adventure destination.”
Until then, check it out or stay tuned! Alberta is incredible.
