This magical floating lantern festival is taking place near Toronto next month

Fill up the night sky with stunning floating lanterns at this one-night-only event near Toronto next month.

The Lights Festival is kicking off on August 20, about an hour west of Toronto. The event aims to gather people from all backgrounds to share “an uplifting, positive, and unforgettable experience,” according to organizers.

For some, this event may serve as a way to honour lost loved ones, to manifest their hopes and dreams, or simply letting go of things from their past.

Lanterns are 100% biodegradable, and made from rice paper, string, and bamboo. “The rice-paper body of the lantern is fire-resistant to prevent the flame from traveling from the small fuel-source suspended in the middle,” said organizers.

“We have a very thorough clean-up crew who gathers the lanterns within 24 hours after the event and disposes of them properly. Our crew is equipped to retrieve lanterns that may end up landing in trees, and though uncommon, a tree service company will be brought in if needed.”

Tickets can be purchased online and packets picked up at the event. Each package has a lantern and marker.

Children ages four to 12 must have a kid’s ticket however they do not come with a lantern.

Enjoy food, live music, and dancing as you take in the sight of the sky filled with beautiful lanterns.
