These Calgary parks have FREE-to-rent fire pits where you can enjoy a boozy drink this winter

The chilly weather has arrived, but as long as there’s sun in the sky, Albertans will take their festive celebrations outside. Luckily, the city of Calgary has made it easy!

In an effort to keep your hearts and hands warm this holiday season, those looking to breathe in the fresh air from a Calgary park can rent a fire pit, but that’s not even the best part!

A program that came to light during the pandemic, the city now has several pits for our enjoyment and has even created an easy-to-use system for those hoping to snag one.

Not only are they totally FREE to rent, but according to the City of Calgary, alcohol is permitted at select sites in the following parks (please visit their website for exact pit locations):

Of course, there are a few things to note before having a s’more or a beer! Please note that you will be required to bring your own firewood and should not burn bushes, twigs, branches, or anything else found in the park.

Plastic, garbage, rubber and furniture are also a no-no, but if you can handle that feel free to enjoy.

Fire pits are available on weekdays between 10 am. to 9 pm as well as weekends between 12 and 2 pm, 4 and 6 pm and 7 to 9 pm and winter bookings are open until the last Sunday in March.

Happy hanging, Calgary!
