This Ontario park has over 1,200 islands & 5,000 km of shoreline to explore

With over 1,200 islands just waiting to be explored on Lake Temagami, Finlayson Point Provincial Park is our next Ontario adventure. Here’s what to know.

About a five-hour drive north of Toronto is Finlayson Point Provincial Park, a serene piece of Ontario forestry that is full of natural wonders at every turn.

A boater’s delight! Grab your canoe, kayak, or boat and drift along the waterways on Lake Temagami. The lake, according to Ontario Parks is home to over 1,200 islands and boasts a stunning 5,000 km shoreline.

“Paddle through misty-covered forests and explore the Lake Temagami Skyline Reserve, a protected belt of ancient pine trees,” shares the park on Instagram.

Care for a dip? In the water, we mean. Finlayson Point has two natural sand beaches that are great for swimming.

Since it’ll be a long trek if you’re coming from the city, you can also camp here. There are three campsites and prices begin at $38.75 nightly. You can review pricing here.

According to Ontario Parks, the price of a Day Use permit depends on the time of the year whether it be on or off-season, and by park.
