The happiest country in the world is inviting visitors to stay for free & Canadians can apply

Ever dreamed of visiting Finland? What if we told you that you could, for free. You read that right. Tourism board Visit Finland has a social media challenge, calling all eager travellers to partake and possibly win a free trip to Helsinki, Findland. And yes, Canadians can apply. Here’s what to know.

Finland is considered to be the “happiest country in the world”, but don’t just take our word for it – the Nordic country snagged a top spot once again in the annual World Happiness report for 2023.

And its tourism board wants everyone to feel just as happy, finding your own inner “Helsinkian” in the happiest country.

“We invite you to take part in the two-phase application for a chance to visit Helsinki this June and experience the Helsinki Happiness Hacks in person,” shares the tourism board.

The Helsinki Happiness Hacks experience will take place between June 10th and 14th, 2024. Winners of this challenge will be staying at the Hotel St. George, accommodated by Visit Finland & Helsinki Partners.

The idea is simple, all you have to do is complete a social media challenge on Instagram or TikTok by posting a video of what your happiness hack is and why you should be chosen to visit Helsinki this summer.

Make sure to us the hashtag #HelsinkiHappinessHacks and tag @ourfinland on Instagram or @visitfinland.com on TikTok.

Once you’re done, fill out the online contact form the tourism board has on their site.

Be sure to apply before April 4th, 2024 by 5:59 PM EST.

Winners will then be publicly announced on the Visit Finland’s Instagram and TikTok on May 2nd, 2024. According to their website, ten applicants will be selected.

Of note, only those 18 years old and up can apply.

“You will also be filmed during your visit, and the material can be used in Visit Finland’s and Helsinki Partners’ communications and advertising,” according to the tourism board.

“We are looking for outgoing people interested in comprehensive wellbeing and Finnish happiness. All we want is an open mind that is ready to be inspired.” For all the nitty gritty information, you can check out their website.

If this sounds like something up your alley, get creative and upload your videos on social media.

You never know if you could win a free trip to Finland if you don’t try. Good luck!
