Not too far from Canada’s capital city is a popular walking destination – a 900-metre wooden boardwalk that stretches across a rare wetland habitat. Findlay Creek Boardwalk is next on our radar and it’s an adventure worth exploring.
You’ll find Findlay Creek Boardwalk about 30 minutes away from Ottawa. According to Great Lakes Guide, the area itself spans across 800 acres of rare wetland habitat.
“These wetlands are composed of a non-acidic peat and are mineral rich and fed by cold groundwater,” shares the site.

“The area is also home to a cedar swamp and has been designated as an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest.”
But its point of interest is its viewing platform. Here you’ll get a beautiful view of the wetland and small streams in the area.
Also keep an eye out for wildlife! Findlay is home to to over 500 plant species, 90 resident bird species, and 40 migratory bird species, according to Great Lakes Guide.
This trail was once a short 500 metre path but back in late 2023, its extension was completed and the boardwalk now spans 900 metres.
That means there’s a lot more to enjoy at Findlay Creek.
Looks like we have another summer adventure awaiting us.
