From major productions and indie films to blockbuster hits and award-winning adaptions, Alberta has seen it all and you won’t want to blink this coming frosty season! Those with a set of eagle-like eyes may just get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the major, minor and mystery projects taking place in the province, but what should you keep your peepers wide for? Here are just a few shows and movies filming in Alberta this winter!

FRAGGLE ROCK

They’re back! Under the code name ‘Raphanis, the iconic children’s classic, Fraggle Rock has been successfully revised and continues to film its second season in Calgary, AB. Co-produced by New Regency Productions and The Jim Henson Company, this true-to-the-original crew is charming, smart and adorable to watch.

Where: Calgary

LUCKY STAR

Described as a “failed get-rich-quick family drama,” Lucky Star is one of the smaller projects on this list, but will be no less intriguing to see out and about. Want to know when you might see some action? Lucky Star will be filming between January 16th and Feb 10th of 2023.

FARGO

A production all too familiar to Albertans, Fargo season 5 will be filming in Calgary and its surrounding areas until April 10th of next year. If of course, you’re unfamiliar with the show, this upcoming anthology series will star Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Juno Temple (Ted Lasso), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Atypical) and Joe Keery (Stranger Things), though further details are not currently available.

DARK MATCH

Perhaps the most secretive on this list – not a whole lot is known about ‘Dark Match,” other than that it’s projected to wrap this week, December 16th. Hopefully more comes out about this one soon, but until then – keep an eye out! You never know what or who you might see in the area.
