As our popularity within the film industry continues to grow, so does the long list of productions taking place within Calgary. This month we saw a major announcement concerning the fifth season of an old faithful – which recently took time away from YYC to shoot elsewhere, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them back.
With a loyal fan base, FX’s Anthology series, Fargo, is one of the biggest TV shows to film almost entirely in and around Calgary with the exception of season 4 – which starred Chris Rock as a businessman engaged in a turf war with a rival family.

While it’s unclear why they chose to film Rock’s season in Chicago instead, Production Weekly, a credible industry newsletter, has confirmed that this upcoming season will return to Alberta – where episodes 1 to 30 were shot between 2014 and 2017.
As of right now, it’s unclear who will star in this upcoming season but we have high hopes for a stellar cast list – which in the past has seen the likes of Colin Hanks, Martin Freeman., Kirsten Dunst, Ewan McGregor, and Billy Bob Thorton, just to name a few.
As always, we’ll keep an on Calgary-brand Fargo news as it comes to light – as well as everything else filming in and around the area!
