Fun fall festivals and activities to check out in Calgary this year

Do you feel that? There’s a chill in the air and leaves on the ground which means that fall 2024 isn’t far behind! Luckily, for those eager to celebrate the season, there are a ton of fun festivals and activities coming to Calgary.

Not sure where to go, what to do, and when? Here are a few things that should be on your autumn bucket list this year.

Harvest Lights

Looking for a wholesome evening of whimsy? This fall, check out the Calgary Farmyard for Harvest Lights, a vibrant after-dark event. With a petting zoo, rat rollers, food, a maze, and more it’ll be fun for the whole family!

When: Fridays and Saturdays starting September 13th, 2024

Pumpkins After Dark

Good gourd, it’s back! This year, Calgarians will be able to wander through over 10,000 glowing pumpkins. Prepare for more orange than you could bake, carve or bash in an entire lifetime!

Calgary Stampeders

Fall and football are like peanut butter and jelly! This season, grab a beer and a bite, then cheer the Calgary Stampeders to victory at McMahon Stadium! For more information or to snag some tickets, head over to the link above!

The Heritage Inn Balloon Festival

This fall watch as colourful hot air balloons float peacefully overhead in the morning and at night! Between September 25th and 29th, get up close and personal with the pilots, have a bite to eat, and attend their highly anticipated ‘Glow’ event.

Harvest Fair

This season, enjoy Granary Road’s Pickle Palooza, Garlic Breath, Apple, and Pumpkin Fest all combined into one! Harvest Fair will be tasty, fun, and exciting no matter your age. Check it out!

Train of Terror

Feeling spooky? This fall check out one of the year’s freakiest events—Aspen Crossing’s Train Of Terror—a full-contact, horror house on wheels just outside of Calgary.

Smoky Lake Pumpkin Fair & Great White North Weigh-Off

Known as THE pumpkin capital of Alberta, Smoky Lake’s most unique festival is highly anticipated and attended by gourd enthusiasts from all over the province. This year enjoy the harvest and celebration, a perogy eating and pumpkin carving showcase and so much more.

Screamfest

A local favourite! This fall hit Screamfest for a night of spooks, frights, freaks and fun. From mazes and rides to movies and games, there is so much to do, see, and screech about.

When: October 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 24th-27th, 30th and 31st, 2024
Where: Calgary Stampede GMC Stadium. 3 St SE, Calgary
Time: 7 pm-midnight

Field of Screams

Feeling brave? Like so many before it, Cobb’s will return this year with ‘Field of Screams’ a terrifying event that totally transforms their 20 acres of land from family-friendly to fantastically freaky.

When: Friday, October 11th, 12th, 17th (Adults Only), 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th, 2024
