This historic Ontario town will host a traditional outdoor European-style Christmas Market

November is almost here and we’re just inching closer and closer to the holiday season. If you’re looking for a special way to celebrate this year, then you have to check out Christmas on the Bay in the charming historic town of Meaford. Here’s what to know.

About two and a half hours away from Toronto, Meaford is the perfect day trip destination – especially for the holidays.

What is it about?

Described as a traditional outdoor European-style Christmas market, it delivers the most festive lights, sounds, smells, experiences, and ambience you could ask for.

It’s the largest market of its kind in all of Georgian Bay and it’ll be kicking off the holiday season this November.

“Immerse yourself into a world of delightfully decorated traditional wooden stalls, endless seasonal lighting, multiple fire bowls, winter princesses, Christmas trees galore, music, a Santa Claus Parade, dancing windows, and an entertainment stage for live music and performances,” reads the website.

Explore the wooden kiosks and support local artisans offering locally crafted food and drinks. You don’t even have to celebrate Christmas to enjoy what this event has to offer.

In fact, Christmas on the Bay “strives to be a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space creating a sense of belonging for all. Everyone is encouraged to be a part of this magical event.”

The whole town will be participating in the festival too — the stores and restaurants in downtown Meaford will have special offerings of their own.

Plus, the festival is dog-friendly! It’s also important to note that everything within the market space has been designed with accessibility in mind.

So if you’re ready to experience the charm of tradition with the excitement of an open-air marketplace, it’s time to put this event on your calendar!

We’re already excited for the holiday season.
