We’ve got some bad news for those of you who were looking forward to the winter wonderland that was the Hawrelak Park Ice Castles. On Wednesday, the organizers of the event announced that due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Ice Castles will not return to Edmonton this year.
News broke via a press release, and at the time of writing, only 4 locations (all in America) are scheduled. We’re feeling that flying in ice castle sculptors and other employees weren’t going to be a breeze this year. Or, maybe the social distancing aspect messed with the budget. We’re not 100% sure, to be honest.

Anyway, this is the first time since the Ice Castles came to Edmonton 5 years ago that they won’t be returning. Fingers crossed that they can come back bigger and better than ever in 2021. Got a few buckets kicking around? Heck, try and make a DIY version in a local park. We’ll promise to cover it if we see it.
Enjoy the rest of the week, folks!
