Here's everything to know ahead of Edmonton Folk Fest 2026

Edmonton Folk Fest is back for another year of great tunes, amazing vibes, and unforgettable moments.
Since 1980, the Edmonton Folk Fest has become a staple in the community, supporting folk music both locally and globally. The festival is a four-day, fun-filled, affordable experience which highlights incredible artists from around the world and puts a spotlight on local food and sales vendors.
If you’re ready to snag your spot on the hill this year, here’s everything you should know ahead of the festival in August.
What to expect
This year, the artist lineup is absolutely stacked. There are names like Arrested Development, Cat Power, and SYML. Even some of my favourite artists will be attending this year: Thee Sacred Souls and Of Monsters and Men. For a look at the full stacked list of performers this year, check out the festival’s website online.
Keep in mind, this festival is truly about the artistry. It’s focused on bringing in some of the best folk artists from around the world to our great city. While there is a marketplace as well as food trucks, the festival begins and ends with the sound of music.
Another thing to know before you hop into the grounds is not to forget your tarp. This sheet will be your bread and butter to securing a spot on the hill. You might want to even get there as soon as the gates open if you want a spot close to the stage.
Unfortunately, due to the popularity of this festival, you might have some trouble finding a ticket at this point in time.
If you’re looking for a ticket for days other than Thursday, you might have better luck waiting for the official ticket exchange. Only looking to go on the first day of the festival? You’re in luck, as individual Thursday tickets are available starting at $47.10 for youth (ages 12 to 17), $61.80 for seniors (ages 65 to 79), and $117.45 for adults (ages 18 to 64).
Tickets will be redeemed at the entry gate for a wristband corresponding to the day, admitting one person into the festival site. The festival also suggests bringing proof of age to the gate.
Do you have more questions about the festival? I’d recommend checking out the festival’s Frequently Asked Questions page on its website for all the nitty-gritty details.
If you’re ready to groove and jive at this festival in the summer, keep your eye out for tickets. You won’t want to miss out on this tradition.
