This is a hike everyone in Ontario should take at least once! Upon entering Spencer Gorge Conservation Area you’ll be overcome with some pretty spectacular views including this trail to Dundas Peak – a lookout spot in the park that boasts spectacular views of the valley below, and during the fall the colours are incredible.

Getting to Dundas Peak

Dundas Peak is within Spencer Gorge Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario.

From Toronto, the drive should only take you just over an hour – a perfect little day trip!


The trail starts off with a bang – a ribboned waterfall called Tew Falls. The falls stand just a few metres less in height than Niagara Falls!

There are two platforms to check out the falls just off the Bruce Trail. From there, it’s time to move to the trail towards Dundas Peak.

There is a 1.8 km loop to ensure that visitors can “physically distance themselves while heading to and returning from the peak.”

Halfway up the trail to Dundas Peak is another lookout out into the gorge for even more stunning views!

While it may be tempting to stray off and discover other sites, the park asks that anyone visiting please stick to the trails and marked areas for not only your safety but also the conservation of everything in the park.

Fees

The park has admission fees of $16 per vehicle/driver. Per passenger over the age of five admission is $5.

Because the fall time is so popular and busy, the park operates on a reservation system starting September 28th, 2024. Keep this in mind if you’re planning to visit during the fall – you can book a reservation here following that date.
