We all love our ferries, they allow us to explore the islands and make commuting doable for many. And now Kitsap Transit is beginning service on its third fast-ferry route. So that means commuters will now be able to get between Southworth and downtown Seattle in 26 minutes.
The new route uses a passenger-only boat with 255 seats. The boat itself also happens to be brand spanking new and cost a pretty $12.5 million. But The Enetai as it’s called was actually built right here in our own state at Nichols Brothers Boat Builders on Whidbey Island. It doesn’t get much more local than that.

If you plan on taking the ferry, it will make 8 trips in each direction during the weekdays. And what’s cool is that you can actually get free ridership on the ferry for the month of April. But in May, fares will cost $2 to Seattle and $10 back to Southworth. Which is a whole lot better than taking the big old car ferries.
We’re excited to welcome this new ferry to the state and for all the commuters that will save hours of their time during the day.
