Are you a digital nomad? Here’s how Canadians can now work from Italy

Work a remote job? If you’re ready, qualified, and willing, you could live ‘La Dolce Vita’.

Italy has launched a new digital nomad visa, meaning Canadian passport holders can become temporary residents of the country – but there are a few things you need to know before you pack your bags.

Known for its amazing food, vineyards and cobblestone streets, there’s no country quite as romanticized – but what does it take to move there legally?

The Digital Nomad Visa

As of April 5th, 2024, people who have a minimum income of €27,000 (approximately $39,811 CAD), evidence of remote work, and health insurance can apply to stay overseas for up to a year.

In addition, the government asks that you show proof of housing and do a criminal record check, according to the Italian government.

Can you check all of their boxes?

Adventure seekers who meet all the requirements will need to complete an application with an Italian Consulate – then wait.

If approved, you could be on your way!

Who knows, this may completely change your life.

After all, if there’s anything we learned from Lizzie McGuire it’s that Italy is ‘what dreams are made of.’

Good luck!
