Creative Combat is returning to Canmore this month, with artsPlace once again transforming its space into a celebration of Bow Valley’s arts community. During the event, you can watch a dozen artists create original paintings in under 20 minutes, and at the end of each round, you’ll have a chance to vote for your favourite piece.

What to expect at Creative Combat

What is Creative Combat?

Creative Combat is artPlace’s annual live painting competition and fundraiser, held in Canmore, where artists have just 20 minutes to create an original piece of art while the audience watches, cheers them on, and then votes for their favourites.

Alongside the live painting competition, the evening will feature music from DJ Rob Murray, a performance from circus artist Luna Ivana, food and a silent auction. There will also be a raffle where you can enter for a chance to win a trip to Nova Scotia.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will help artsPlace continue supporting arts and cultural programming throughout the Bow Valley.

When and where is Creative Combat taking place?

Creative Combat is taking place on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, at artsPlace in Canmore. Doors open at 6 p.m., and guests are asked to arrive by 6:30 p.m.

How do I get tickets?

Individual tickets cost $100, while a group of six can attend for $500. Tickets include food and two cocktails or beers, and all proceeds from the event support artsPlace and its work in the local arts community.

And if you can’t make it to Creative Combat, artsPlace has plenty of other events happening throughout November, including the Y2Y Film Festival on Tuesday, Nov. 17, which will feature films and conversations about climate and conversation, and the Reel Rock Film Tour, a climbing film festival which takes place on Nov. 19, 25, and 28.
