This small Alberta town with scenic views lies in a stunning river valley

Canadian adventure-seekers are spoiled for choice, but if you love surprises, consider heading to Cochrane, Alberta—a small town with a big heart!

Located just 35 minutes from Calgary, this charming destination is nestled in a stunning valley and has no shortage of exciting things to do and see.

What is there to do in Cochrane, Alberta?

From popular restaurants, like Fence & Post (which was featured in My Life with the Walter Boys on Netflix) and family-friendly events, to museums and galleries guests can enjoy a scenic walk and live in the now—or throw it back downtown, where you’ll find the historic Rocky View Hotel.

Built in 1904, this local favourite is the oldest operational hotel in Western Canada and is one of Cochrane’s few remaining original buildings.

Nearby you can shop Howard Block or visit MacKay’s Ice Cream, which has been making desserts since 1948.

If however, you’d like to branch out, check out Boundary Ranch, which offers spectacular views of the Kananaskis Valley or grab a drink at the Fallentimber Meadery— but plan ahead!

You’ll want to leave time to wander Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park or explore the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary—one of the most magical places in the province!

Never heard of it? The Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is educational, fun and, above all, incredibly special.

Here, animal lovers can get up close and personal with their resident wolfpack, feed them, pet them and even sit with them.

If you’d like to check out this wonderful town for yourself, there’s no day but today!

Whether you visit for a round of mini golf and have a bite to eat, or stay the night and explore in-depth, you’re bound to have a wonderful time.

Enjoy and happy travelling.
