Things to do in Clarington, Ontario

Destination Ontario says it best, “Filled with scenic farmlands, endearing townships, historical sites and outdoor adventures, Clarington begs to be explored.”

Speaking of begging to be explored, you can start with the area’s 15 hamlets!

The area also boasts four urban centres: Courtice, Bowmanville, Newcastle and Orono.

While you’re exploring be sure to check out One of the area’s main attractions, Tyrone Mills.

This historic, traditional water-powered mill dates back to 1846. For the past 170 years, Tyrone Mills has been a grist mill, flour mill, lumber mill, apple cider producer, historic tour center, bakery, and rural community center!

While it’s gone through a handful of changes over time, today the mill “continues to preserve its traditional roots through continual use of its water power in lumber manufacturing and flour production.”

A trip to Clarington, Ontario has to include some time down by the water.

The waterfront boasts multiple beaches, parks and trails. Some of the most popular spots include East Beach Park, West Beach Park, and the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail.

Orono Crown Lands, the Ganaraska Forest and the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area are other trails in and around Clarington you can end your day checking out.
