Still looking for the perfect Christmas tree? If you’re on the hunt for a real tree to really bring in the holiday spirit, check out these Christmas tree farms in Ontario.

There are plenty of Christmas tree farms in Ontario that offer both cut-your-own experiences and precut trees.

It’s all up to you whether you’d like to get right into the thick of it with a handsaw or point out the prettiest tree of the bunch.

Barrett’s Christmas Tree Farm

Make sure to wear some gloves for this one! Barrett’s Christmas Tree Farm is now open for those looking to cut down their own trees or for a pre-cut Christmas tree.

It is recommended that you book your time ahead to visit the Family Fun Farm.

According to its official site, U-Cut trees in the grove stand as tall as 8ft and are $60. There are limited trees in sizes over 8ft tall. As for precut, those are available from $60 to $110.

“If you plan to cut your own Christmas Tree, please bring a saw if possible. We will have a limited number of saws available on site.”

When: Every day from 9 AM to 5 PM until Christmas Eve
Where: 3141 Williamson Road, Cobourg
Cost: $60 to $110 per tree

Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm

Stop by the Ottawa Valley’s Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm! Here you can cut your own tree or buy a pre-cut Fraser Fir, Balsam Fir, Scotch Pine, Blue Spruce, or White Spruce. The last three trees mentioned should be ready to cut AFTER December 1st.

To make your tree cutting adventure easier and more fun, the farm has free tractor and wagon rides to the tree fields. They also provide handsaws and once you’re done cutting your tree, you can have your tree shaken for free. To have your tree wrapped, you’ll have to pay an additional $4.

When: Open seven days a week – Monday to Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM; Friday 10 AM to 8PM; Saturday to Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM
Where: 951 8th Concession South, Pakenham
Cost: Free entry (tree costs here)

Elliott Tree Farm

Elliott Tree Farm is just a short drive out of the GTA and they also offer cut-you-own spruce and pine Christmas trees and pre-cut options. They are a small, family-owned sustainable Christmas Tree farm that plants two new trees for every one harvested.

“Once you select your tree, we will wrap your tree in our netting at no charge for transportation home,” shares the site.

When: Daily until December 23, 9 AM to 5 PM
Where: 9467 Erin East Garafraxa Townline, Hillsburgh
Cost: Free entry (Trees start at $79+)

Evergreen Tree Farm

This dog-friendly farm is as festive as it can get! Evergreen Tree Farm offers Balsam Fir, White Spruce, White pine and Blue Spruce.

Cut down a tree and enjoy some roasted marshmallows as you sit by the campfire. You can cut down any size and any variety for $85+ HST or purchase a pre-cut tree starting at $60.

When: Thursday from 1 PM to 7 PM, Friday from 1 PM to 7 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM
Where: 7811 Wellington 22, Guelph
Cost: Free entry (trees start at $60+)

Jingle Bills Christmas Tree Farm

If you’re looking for White Pine trees or White Spruce, Jingle Bills is the place to be. You can also get free hot chocolate, warm apple cider, and cookies too.

A tree cutting appointment is required and you must bring your own saw.

When: Friday to Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM
Where: 7373 Concession 1, Puslinch

Sloan’s Village

This popular attraction has two Christmas Villages where you can cut your own tree. We’re talking firs, spruce, and pine trees! Both villages offer pre-cut trees, however, village two offers tree cutting.

Pre-cut tree prices and selection vary however for those that are cut your own under 10ft are priced at $79, and those over 10ft are $113.

When: Opens November 17, 2023.
Where: Village One Farm: 29876 Zone Road 7, Bothwell; Village Two: 14933 Longwoods Road, Bothwell
Cost: $19+ entry fee (trees vary depending on pre-cut or not)

Springridge Farm

You can find fresh-cut premium Fraser and Balsam Fir trees at Springridge Farm. Sizing ranges from five to 12 feet.

They have a selection to choose from but once you’ve picked the perfect one, you can stop by the bakery and treat yourself to some sweet eats.

When: Daily from 9 AM to 5 PM until December 24th
Where: 7256 Bell School Line, Milton

Thomas Tree Farm

Thomas Tree Farm is known for its cut-your-own-trees experience and pre-cut offerings. But what makes it magical is the overall holiday adventure including an adventure through the maple bush, and a tractor-drawn hay wagon ride to choose your Christmas tree. There’s also complimentary hot chocolate and cookies to be enjoyed.

You can either cut your own Balsam Fir and Spruce from six to 10 feet and Scotch Pine from six to eight feet. Make sure to bring your own hand saw or borrow one of theirs. 

As for pre-cut trees, choose from a selection of Balsam Fir starting at 6 ft and ranging to 14 feet, Fraser Fir from 7 ft to 9 ft, and Scotch Pine from 6 ft to 8 ft.
