The holidays are here but before we get into the spirit of things, here’s what will be open and closed on Christmas day in Edmonton. After all, there’s nothing worse than a vacant parking lot when you’re looking to get some errands done before dinner.

MOVIE THEATRES

Hoping to catch a flick this Sunday? Landmark Cinema and Cineplex theatres will all be open all weekend long!

SHOPPERS DRUG MART

While we’d definitely recommend checking the hours of your local store, some free-standing Shoppers Drug Mart Locations in Edmonton will be open on Christmas Day.

EDMONTON TRANSIT

Need to get from point A to point B? Edmonton Transit will be running on their Sunday service schedule.

WEST EDMONTON MALL

Good news, last minute-shoppers, according to their website, West Edmonton Mall will be open between 12 pm and 5 pm on Christmas Day

CLOSED

THE EDMONTON ZOO

Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) – while some of you may have been hoping to check out Zoominscence on the 25th your trip have to wait.  According to their website, The Edmonton Valley Zoo will not be open on Christmas Day.

CITY-OWNED RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND LEISURE CENTRES

Sorry, folks – but this Sunday, most city-owned fitness and rec centres will be closed – with the exception of the Millwoods and Central Lions Recreational Centres.

‘Tis the season to plan ahead! This year, all of the grocery stores and their affiliated liquor stops listed above will be unshoppable on Sunday, December 25th.

POST OFFICES

Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Sunday (and every stat holiday) the post office will be closed.
