Celebrating culture, creativity and fun, one of the winter’s most anticipated events will return in 2024 and it’s going to be even cooler than the ice under your feet.
Set to kick off in February, Chinook Blast will take Calgary for the 4th time since its inception and this year will be the best yet.

Featuring live music, sports, shows and a ‘sizzling lineup of art installations,’ those interested in getting out and about will be encouraged to do so despite the snow.
What’s more, ahead of the big deal, they’ll be looking for talented Calgarians interested in participating.
“Are you a performing artist with a passion for captivating audiences?” ask the organizers.
“Chinook Blast is on the lookout for local talented performers to join our lineup. If you’re ready to shine on the grand stage despite the cold weather, we want to hear from you!”

Artists of all kinds can check out their website and fill out an application form – and they mean all kinds!
In addition to musicians, sculptors, visual artists and immersive experience creators can also throw their hats into the ring – and there are serious perks!
“We are offering funding opportunities ranging from $5,000 to a maximum of $40,000 for installations,” they add.
“In addition, we have partnered with the City of Calgary’s Winter City Design Challenge where an installation that can withstand three months in the winter weather from January to March without the need for security will receive up to $40,000.”
