Chinese restaurant in Canada goes viral for owner’s hilariously honest menu captions

Think about your favourite neighbourhood restaurant. Now, think about how you might describe those dishes, with full honesty, to a good friend of yours. Ok, good, you’re ready to learn about Aunt Dai, which probably has the best descriptions for menu items in Canada.

The Montreal restaurant was first revealed by Twitter user Kim Belair (@BagelofDeath). According to her, the food is great, but the commentary is sublime.

What do we see? That’s easy- pure, unadulterated confidence. Whoever wrote these descriptions (it’s credited to the owner) knows exactly a) what they like and b) what the people want. Turns out, there are some discrepancies on more than a few items, like the Orange Beef dish:

“Comparing to our General Tao Chicken, this one is not THAT good.
Anyway, I am not big fan of North American Chinese food and it’s your call.”

We just… have to applaud them. We don’t know when we’ll next be in Montreal, but Aunt Dai has shot straight to the top of the must-visit list. Check out the full menu (complete with descriptions) right here.
