There are many ways to see Washington’s beautiful fall foliage. You can go for a hike, or even go for a scenic drive if you feel up to it. However, there’s one way you might have not thought of yet, by train. Yes, you can ride a beautiful fall foliage train this fall and you might even get a surprise visit from a spooky guest.

The Chelatchie Prairie Railroad has two fall train rides that you’re going to want to add to your autumn plans. The first is their classic and beloved “Fall Leaves Special.” It happens for one weekend only in October and gives you the chance to see the leaves change color in a whole new way. You also get to drive through a 330-foot solid rock tunnel, to the Heisson area with a stop at Moulton Station to visit Yacolt Falls.

Now there’s another train ride that you can enjoy in October and that one is called the “Headless Horseman Halloween Train.” It also takes place for one weekend only, but it does have a special guest, the headless horseman. You’ll see him in all of his glory galloping by the train as you drive by. You’re also encouraged to come dressed in your best costumes.

Because these train rides have limited capacity and run for one weekend only, they do sell out very quickly. With that in mind, we recommend purchasing your tickets now while they’re still available. It’s a great outing for people of all ages and is definitely family-friendly. You can learn more and grab tickets by visiting the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad website.
