Here are some of the cheapest neighbourhoods in Metro Vancouver for rentals right now

While Vancouver remains one of the most expensive places to live in the country, there are some neighbourhoods in the area worth looking into if you’re in the market for a place to rent. Right now, the average rent price for a one-bedroom in Metro Vancouver sits at $2,379 per month, which is up $12 from last month, according to liv.rent.

Cheapest neighbourhoods for renting

When it comes to the most affordable neighbourhoods in the area, Renfrew-Collingwood tops the list, with an unfurnished one-bedroom costing around $2,237 per month.

Situated in the far east of the city, the largely residential neighbourhood offers residents plenty of parks, including Renfrew Ravine Park and the Still Creek watershed.

Marpole is another more ‘affordable’ neighbourhood for renters, offering residents unfurnished one-bedrooms for around $2,246 per month.

Strathcona-Grandview Woodland and Kerrisdale follow, with rents sitting at $2,316 and $2,455 respectively.

Interestingly enough, renting in West Point Grey/UBC is only five dollars less than the average rent in Kerrisdale.

Known for its tree-lined streets, large, older homes, and abundance of boutique shops and restaurants, South Cambie is another area that’s popular among renters of all household sizes.

The average monthly rent for a one-bedroom unit is $2,373, whereas two bedrooms are priced at $2,729 on average, which is some of the cheapest prices in the city.
