Happy October, Edmonton! We are nearing the end of 2022 (!!), and perhaps it’s also time we start saving for the holidays. And that is not a problem around here, because we have rounded up the best free and cheap things to do in Edmonton this month! Here’s what we got!

SPRUCE RIDGE SCARE

Get ready to be spooked, every weekend this month! Spruce Ridge Scare is a family owned and built Haunted House located at #287 Spruce Ridge rd. in Spruce Grove! The family charges either $5 a person, or one non-perishable food donation per person (for the parkland food bank).

When: October 7th to 9th, 14th to 16th, 21st to 23rd, and 28th to 31st, 2022
Where: 287 Spruce Ridge Road
Cost: $5 or a non-perishable food item

RUTHERFORD MANOR HAUNT

Get ready to be spooked even more! The multi-award winning Rutherford Manor Haunt is all about “thrills, chills, guts and gore!”. This is one of Edmonton’s premier home yard and House Haunts each Halloween season. Join thousands who visit, and support the Edmonton Food Bank and Second Chance Animal Rescue with donations.

When: October 28th to 31st, 2022
Where:1906 Robertson Crescent SW
Cost: Donate to SCARS – Donate a minimum of $2.00 per person to Second Chance Animal Rescue at the Haunt Entrance. Or donate to the Food Bank, there will be an Edmonton Food Bank donation truck on site.

HALLOWEEN NIGHT MARKET

More spooky season events for a good cause! Check out 85 spooky vendors, local brewers & food trucks at the Halloween Night Market. There will be face painting, live music & a costume contest.

HIT UP THE FARMERS’ MARKETS

Thank goodness we can get amazing local produce year-round! Located throughout the city, these are a great way to support local growers and vendors. And, there’s no denying that somehow, meals made using local goods just taste that much better. And it’s a wonderful fall morning activity.

THE LOCAL LOVE MARKET

We love local markets, including this one! The Local Love Market is a curated collective of other small, local businesses. Expect deals, giveaways, and exclusive items.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW

Worried about a little brain drain as the weather cools off? You’re in luck, because the U of A has a wealth of free-to-access courses, teaching you about everything from dinosaurs to Indigenous history.

AUTOGRAF CONCERT

Feel like grooving at a concert for free? Musical duo Autograf are in Edmonton this month,  bringing their mix of futuristic electronica to the Midway. Best part? Entry is free before 10:30 PM!
