As summer approaches, it’s time to plan out some exciting weekend day trips and activities. And while we love a good beach day or patio to unwind at, it’s fun to step outside of the norm every once in a while. Case in point, BC has many fascinating caves worth checking out, especially if you want to escape the heat for a bit this summer.
So without further ado, here are 5 exciting caves you can explore in BC.
Located on Vancouver Island, Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park is home to an array of unique cave formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, and underground streams. From the Achilles Challenge through crawlways in Riverbend Cave to an exciting Multi-Cave experience, there are plenty of tours suiting all levels of athleticism and interest to check out.

Anhluut’ukwsim Lax̱mihl Angwinga’asanskwhl Nisg̱a’a (Nisg̱a’a Memorial Lava Bed Park) is the first park in BC to combine interpretation of natural features and Indigenous culture. Formed by volcanic activity, the lava tube caves offer an otherworldly experience for visitors, who can book a tour through Nass Valley Tours.

Cody Caves are situated near Nelson, and feature a captivating underground system for those with more cave exploring experience under their belts. With its intricate maze-like passages and striking geological features, tours of the caves are certainly a bucket-list BC experience!
