If you’re looking for a peaceful adventure through stunning forestry and past rushing rapids, we know just the place. Cascades Conservation Area offers an escape from reality and a deep dive into wilderness. With hiking trails to explore, here’s why you should venture up north to this Ontario park.
Just north of Thunder Bay and about a 14-hour drive from Ontario’s capital city, is where you will find Cascades Conservation Area.
According to the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, this sprawling area is a great choice for a quiet hike in the beautiful poplar and birch forest.
It spans across 162 ha of land and is home to 5.5 km of trails.
Its Forest Trail, a 775-metre loop, “allows people with accessibility concerns to discover Cascades’ beautiful forest.”
But according to its map, one of its lengthy trails, winds along the Current River.
For many people, the park’s highlight is the spectacular rapids you’ll find on this river.
“While enjoying the Cascades, take the opportunity to view the wide variety of geological formations on the Current River,” shares the LRCA.
Have a furry friend? The Cascades Conservation Area is also an extremely popular area for dog-walking! Bring your four-legged friend on a leash and enjoy the scenery.
If you ever find yourself in the area, do yourself a favour and explore the park.
