Summer sure is turning up sunny with festivals galore. And we have yet another irresistible and free-to-attend street fest coming to New Westminster. Enter: Car Free Day New West presented by TransLink.
On August 6th from 12 pm to 8 pm, the event will turn Columbia Street between 4th and 8th into a car-free pedestrian paradise. With local stores and vendors, extended patios, artists, artisans, food trucks and plenty of fun activities the street is going to have a vibe of its own.
To begin with, there will be four different stages featuring recording artists, dance groups and other family-friendly entertainment. Two of these stages are dedicated to live music and performances. In fact, the folks at Car Free Day New West just dropped the artist line-up and it boasts popular local artists.
Kimmortal, Teon Gibbs, Bo Henrik and the Supermrkt Social, DACEY, Later Days and Hotel Décor will take over the main stage. Meanwhile, Marylou Villegas, Madison Olds, Ahsia, Dakota Bear, Moving City, David Beckingham and Kylie V will set the acoustic stage on fire with their intense vocals.
Oh, and you’ll find several groups break a leg at the breakdance battle hosted by Diamonds in the Rough. While they get to take home prizes, you get to catch some killer moves. Car Free Day even has the young’uns covered. Walk over to the Family Zone to see juggler extraordinaire Mike Battie and enjoy some fun crafts, balloon art, face painting and tons more.
To make matters even more irresistible, Car Free Day will also host the iconic Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest. Meaning loads and loads of delicious eats to indulge in.
