The Vancouver Canucks made NHL history last night

And while we’re not going to say it’s completely because of that amazing black jersey coming back, we do think it influenced things a little bit. In their home game against the Calgary Flames, the Vancouver Canucks ended up making NHL history. What’s more, we don’t think it’s going to happen again any time soon.

So, what happened? Well, the Canucks ended up absolutely dominating the Flames, scoring a whopping 7 goals while keeping the Flames to just one. Of course, the odd blowout isn’t exactly new in the league, but the circumstances surrounding last night’s were.

That’s because the Canucks ended up becoming the first team in NHL history to beat a team that was on a 10+ game win streak by 6 or more goals. Yeah, even in the wild days of the 70s and 80s, this has literally never happened in the NHL. It’s a pretty good, if a little niche, fact to hang up on the mantle, if we do say so ourselves. Even better because it’s, you know, a rival Canadian team.

As for those throwback black jerseys? Well, we can only hope that they make more and more appearances over the next few years. We’re considering a lucky charm.
