Seattle’s iconic festival unveils plans for a ‘massive new arts venue’ for concerts & shows

Guess what, Seattle? The team behind the Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival just unveiled its plans for a new year-round music and arts venue called Cannonball Arts, which will host everything from art exhibits and visual arts performances to fashion shows and concerts.

Planned in partnership with the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, the ‘massive new arts venue’ spans 66,000 square feet and over two city blocks, occupying a former Bed Bath & Beyond. Once complete, the building will consist of two stories of contemporary and performing arts space, according to New Rising Sun.

“Cannonball Arts gives Bumbershoot a year-round platform to celebrate the wealth of creativity that calls the Pacific Northwest home,” says Greg Lundgren, co-producer and creative director of New Rising Sun. “It is ambitious in scale and scope, and will contribute to the revitalization of downtown Seattle.”

According to New Rising Sun, the new venue will draw its inspiration from museums, art galleries, department stores, and unconventional exhibitions to create an all-encompassing experience for art and music lovers across Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

The new Cannonball Arts venue is expected to open to the public next spring. Until then, it’s time to get excited for this year’s Bumbershoot Arts & Music Fest, which will take place over Labour Day weekend!

So there you have it, Seattle. Stay tuned for more details as they come!
