The first true ‘wine village’ in Canada is opening in BC this summer & it looks amazing

Heads up wine lovers, because there’s an absolutely incredible ‘wine village’ that’s gearing up to open in the Okanagan later this summer. What’s a wine village, you ask? We had the exact same question, so let’s check out what exactly is in store!

The development, located just outside of Oliver, is going to be called The Village. And essentially, it is a showcase of amazing local producers in one accessible location. The Village will have 16 production facilities with tasting rooms, an on-site vineyard, and an amphitheatre right in the middle of it all. So, everything you need to ‘properly’ taste some amazing local products. Of course, we’re not ones to judge, we’ve played a couple of games of slap the bag in our time…

And it’s not just wine on the menu, either. In addition to a culinary experience centre, The Village’s production facilities can handle all kinds of makers, including cideries, breweries and distillers. We’re thinking of it as like an alcoholic version of heading to the mall, and that sounds just about perfect to us. Especially in the middle of a scorching-hot Okanagan summer.

When construction is complete later this summer, the space will be able to hold 16 different local producers. A fair number have already signed on, from established wineries like Winemaker’s CUT to a handful of brand new concepts. Now, it’s just a waiting game, with construction on their end and public health restrictions on ours.

We’ll tell you one thing though- we can’t wait to check it out!

The Village

When: Slated to open mid-June, 2021
Where: 100 Enterprise Way, Oliver
