Canada ranks among countries most satisfied with their love lives

Oh, Canada! We may be known for our kindness, Canadian pride, and the inability to stop saying “sorry,” but when it comes to love, that’s a different story. A new ranking reveals countries that are the most satisfied with their love lives. Let’s just say Canada didn’t make the top 10.

Market research company Ipsos has come up with what they call The Love Satisfaction IndexPer the index, they conducted a 30-country survey just around the end of 2024. They interviewed over 20,000 people across the globe, 18 years and older (depending on the country). About 1,000 individuals represented Canada’s ranking.

Worldwide love

According to Ipsos, The Love Life Satisfaction Index brings together how people feel about love, romance and relationships in a single indicator.

“It brings together how satisfied people are with the love in their life, their sex lives and their relationship with their partner,” they add.

Respondents were asked how satisfied they were with feeling loved, their romantic/sex life and their relationship with their partners.

Well, according to the results, countries in Latin America and Asia are most satisfied with their “love lives,” Colombians managed to come out on top for being the most happy generally about their love life and the most satisfied with their sex lives.

Thailand ranks second on the overall index, while Mexico and Indonesia are third and fourth, respectively.

How did Canada rank?

Though we could go on and on about how well other countries did, we, of course, can’t skip out on Canada. Now, don’t get upset but Canada didn’t necessarily rank in the overall top 10 or top 20.

If you’ve been wondering why your love life feels a little… underwhelming, it turns out you’re not alone. Canada’s got company near the bottom of the list.

Canada actually landed in 23rd place. We earned a score of 68 out of 100, tying with Hungary.

When it comes to “feeling loved,” Canada scored a higher percentage under “somewhat satisfied” (41%) and with the sex life category (28%).

We did, however, see better results under “relationship with partner/spouse.” Canada is “very satisfied” (47%). Way to go!

It looks like love isn’t exactly in the air… at least, not in Canada. Maybe we’re too polite to make the first move, or maybe our standards are just that high. Either way, there’s no shame in being 23rd. Hey, we’re still No. 1 in saying “sorry” after a bad date.

That’s something to cheer about… right?
